Dr. Moore

Dr. MooreA native of Pampa, Dr. Moore spent his early teen years learning the meaning of hard work by spending his time working on the surrounding ranches and farms. After graduating from Pampa High in 1988, Dr. Moore moved to Lubbock where he began his undergraduate education at Texas Tech University. It was during his time at Texas Tech that he decided to pursue a career in dentistry. Dr. Moore graduated from Texas Tech with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology. He applied for, and was accepted by all three dental schools in Texas, but chose the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. This was an easy decision because it was voted the number one dental school in the nation by USA Today. Dr. Moore was very busy during his four years in San Antonio, working part time while attending dental school. In 1997, he graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

After graduation, Dr. Moore was eager to return to the panhandle. He started as an associate with Dr. Joel Coker and purchased the practice shortly afterward. This became  the base of what is now The Dental Group of Amarillo

Dr. Moore is a proud member of the following associations: the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Panhandle District Dental Society, and the American Orthodontic Society. He has practiced orthodontics since 1997, and has offered Invisalign to his patients since 1995.

Dr. Moore has one son, Cody, who was born in 2000, and loves to spend as much time with him as he can.  Outside of dentistry, Dr. Moore enjoys riding his Harley, fishing, skiing, and many other outdoor activities.  Dr. Moore also devotes a considerable amount of his time to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Texas Plains.  He supports them both with his time and gifts, as a past president, and currently sits as a member of their Board of Directors.

Dr. Coker

Dr. CokerA lifetime native of Amarillo, Dr. Coker began his interest in dentistry as a dental lab technician while in high school. He attended West Texas State College, and then completed his dental training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.

Since graduation, Dr. Coker has pioneered dentistry in Amarillo, using his years of experience and training to extend his general practice into orthodontics and the treatment of TMJ. Always looking to broaden the services he offers to his patients. Dr. Coker’s latest interest and education has been in the mini-implant system that stabilizes dentures. Mini-implants offer a predictable, affordable option for denture stabilization without the major surgery involved in placing traditional osseous implants.

A lifetime passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles has led Dr. Coker on road trips all around North America, including Alaska and Nova Scotia. Any patient who has visited Dr. Coker’s practice will be quick to note the famous “Harley Room” that documents his many trips. Dr. Coker’s wife, Nancy, shares his passion, and they count the days until their next road trip together. His passion extends to off road cycling with dirt bikes and four wheelers.

Stronger than his passion for dentistry is Dr. Coker’s passion for his faith. Along with Nancy, he stays active in his local church as well as serving on the state boards. He has donated his dental talents locally and in Mexico through missions. A highlight of Dr. Coker’s life was his journey to Israel and the Holy Land and his baptism in the Jordan River.

In his spare time, Dr. Coker enjoys hunting and fishing of all kinds. He keeps a regular weekly game of golf with his friends and tries to squeeze in as many extra golf rounds as he can.

Dr. Coker’s peers recognized him as an outstanding dentist in 1982. He received the distinction of fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) and is a lifetime member of the American Orthodontic Society, Texas Dental Association, and American Dental Association.
